The use case provides Data from both field measurements (groundwater table fluctuation, pumping tests and pollution sources) and chemical analyses in accredited laboratories (major ions and trace elements) a database has been developed which also consists of various geospatial data. Considering all the above data and the fact that there is very good and adequate scientific knowledge of geological, hydrological, hydro-geological and hydro-chemical characteristics and properties of the study areas, important interdisciplinary and multi-layered conclusions could be conducted such as:
a. Water balance estimation and assessment
b. Piezometric surface maps for dry and wet periods’ piezo maps.
c. Hydro chemical maps
We will provide chemical analysis for 9 major elements (Ca, Mg, Na, K, CO3, HCO3, SO4, NO3, Cl) and hydro chemical diagrams, charts and graphs pies (images) as map services
a. Salinization maps (Seawater intrusion)
b. Groundwater pollution and contamination
i. Inventory of contamination points sources
ii. Regional contamination (F, NO3, Cl etc)
c. Trends and statistical analysis of major ions and trace elements.
The use cases intend to create web based GIS applications for the water balance estimation, for the creation of hydro chemical and salinization maps and for the regional contamination. The services could be extended with data from several countries.
